Some further organisations and charities can support families, including some that are dedicated to supporting adoptive families.

The following provides a wealth of information, resources and support.

Adopters support line

Need to talk? The adopters together peer support line offers emotional support from fellow adopters in the East of England. Call 01245 959594, Monday to Friday between 11am - 3pm. You can also book a callback for an evening or on a Saturday morning.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or just need a friendly voice, trained peer supporters are here to help.

Adoption support

Adoption UK

Adoption UK connect people from across the adoption community, supporting both adopters and adoptees. Their membership provides a peer network, community groups, practical advice, and more.

New Family Social

New Family Social are a UK charity, led by LGBTQ+ adopters and foster carers. They support adopters through their parenting journey with social networks, up to date news and forums.

Dads group

A weekly group for fathers who are adopters. This group will help with recognising stress and provide you with strategies, tools, methods, and techniques that can help you feel better.

The Potato Group

The Potato Group are parents of adopted teenagers and post teens from all over the UK. They provide a peer based service for families with teenagers who have suffered early, repeated trauma.

Virtual school

The virtual school supports adopted children and their parents with advice, awareness of children’s needs, assisting with finding suitable schools, and providing support for children facing educational challenges. Central Bedfordshire Virtual School are also currently providing a weekly drop-in, further details can be found on their website.
