We have a range of training on offer, either delivered by professionals within our team or through our partner agencies. The below gives you a snapshot of what is available.
Navigating the teen years
Navigating the teen years offers parents of young people aged 10 years plus access to a comprehensive suite of online webinars. Created and delivered by Clinical Psychologist Dr Naomi Fisher, specialising in low-demand parenting, trauma, and education. With a 12-month license, you have access to webinars covering communication, behaviour, emotions, school pressures, screens, anxiety and planning for the future. There are also specialist sessions for parents of neurodiverse teens.
For friends and family
Join us for our online friends and family training on 9 February between 5 - 6:30pm. Designed for those who want to support adoptive parents with greater understanding and confidence. This session offers insights into the adoption journey, explores key challenges and common misconceptions, and provides practical guidance on how to be a supportive, well informed presence for the adoptive families.
Nurturing connections - prepare for the teenage years
A course for parents to support and prepare for the teenage years. Looking at the transition from childhood to young adulthood.
Thrive together
A four week group for parent and preschool aged children, together we will focus on activities to support early development and connection.
CATCH
CATCH offers adopters anytime online support, focused learning and information. Created with adopter input, it’s hub provides 24/7 access to private forums, live peer chats, expert webinars, e-learning, and tailored resources covering trauma, behaviour, contact, life story, parenting, teenagers and lots more. You can request a login using the code 1352.
Adoption England
Adoption England provides training, events, and webinars to support those involved in adoption, offering valuable resources to enhance understanding and improve outcomes for everyone affected.
They also have links to other areas thay may be of interest, such as maintaining relationships after adoption.
Adoption Plus
Adoption Plus provides specialist therapeutic training, with courses on subjects such as emotional regulation, self harm, therapeutic understanding of childhood, and much more.
Adoption UK
Adoption UK offers training, designed and delivered by professionals and expert adopters covering a wide range of subjects so adopters at all stages of their family life can develop their knowledge.
This service is available to both Milton Keynes and Central Bedfordshire adopters, and you can find out more through their website.
Beacon Family Services
Free workshops for parents who are navigating violent, aggressive, or challenging behaviour. The fully funded workshops are led by the co-host of The Adoption and Fostering Podcast, Al Coates MBE.
Living with teenagers
Living with teenagers is a free online programme run over 8 weeks. Covering the joys and challenges of being a parent of a teenager. Find out more by emailing the team.
