Challenges and support
Staying connected is extremely beneficial, children need a good sense of identity and staying in touch, meet ups or other regular meaningful communication can be an important way for that to happen.
If you find yourself dealing with challenges, we can support you to build positive relationships with the child’s family. Staying connected can be challenging:
If adopters don’t actively support children’s relationships with their birth families
If birth families have difficulty coming to terms with their child being adopted
If children feel their adopted and birth families can’t accept that they can both have important roles to play in the child’s life
If a child’s physical and emotional safety isn’t being fully supported.
Request support
It’s important not to give up and to seek advice. The long-term benefits of keeping relationships going can far outweigh most challenges. Please do contact us if you would like support, to build relationships, manage risks and support your child to keep in touch.
